Initially working at Grohl’s Studio 606, at the time located in Virginia, the sessions became stale after six weeks. The Foo’s got back together in October 2001 to get what material they had for their next album together. ![]() This move would later turn out to have created uncertainty and friction between Grohl and the other band members. After taking time off to recover, Dave Grohl accepted an offer to play drums for the Queens of the Stone Age album Songs For the Deaf. After a stint of European festivals which culminated in the V Festival in England in August 2001, drummer Taylor Hawkins suffered a heroin overdose that left him in a coma for two weeks. The early 2000s had been busy for the band, promoting their previous album There Is Nothing Left To Lose throughout 20. Ultimately, the recordings felt unsatisfying, and frontman Dave Grohl eventually called time and stopped them. The situation caused tensions between the band members. ![]() The album sessions were turbulent and troubled, and what they came up with was considered unsatisfying. When Foo Fighters got together to record their fourth album One By One in 2002 they were going through a rocky patch.
